This tutorial is for existing RiiConnect24 users who have not done this patch before August 2017. Basically, RiiConnect24 undergone some maintenance requiring you to change your DNS and repatch your nwc24msg.cfg. Please follow this, because this is required if you want to continue using RiiConnect24.

#### What you need
|

|
* A Wii with an outbound Internet connection
|
|
* An SD card with at least 128 MB of free space
|
|
* Discord Account
|
|
* [WiiXplorer](https://sourceforge.net/projects/wiixplorer/files/latest/download)
|
|
|
|
#### Instructions
|
|
|
|
##### Section I - Patching
|
|
|
|
1. Extract WiiXplorer, and then copy it to the `apps` folder on your SD Card. Make sure to copy WiiXplorer as its own folder, not the standalone files inside.
|
|
1. Insert your SD card into your Wii, open the Homebrew Channel, and launch Wii Mod Lite.
|
|
1. Using the +Control Pad on your Wii Remote, go to `WAD Manager`, and then navigate to the `WAD` folder.
|
|
1. When `IOS31.wad` is highlighted, press +, and then press A to install the WAD. Continue to do the same for `IOS80.wad`.
|
|
1. After they are successfully installed, press the HOME Button to exit back to the Homebrew Channel.
|
|
1. We will now patch your `nwc24msg.cfg` file which is required to do in order to use Wii Mail. Launch WiiXplorer.
|
|
1. Go to `Start` -> `Settings` -> `Boot Settings` -> `Enable NAND write access` and then select `Yes` for both dialogs that appear on the screen. *This is important, if you do not do this, you'll get an error saying "Error copying some item(s)" later.*
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
1. Press `Go Back` until you have reached the file explorer screen.
|
|
1. Select the tiny blue SD Card icon, then select `nand`.
|
|
|
|
1. Navigate to `shared2` -> `wc24`, then hover over `nwc24msg.cfg` and press the + button and select `Copy`.
|
|
|
|
|
|
1. Select the NAND icon (which used to be the SD Card icon), then select `SD`.
|
|
1. In the file explorer pane, press the + button somewhere in the file listing and select `Paste`.
|
|
1. Take your SD card out and insert it back into your computer.
|
|
1. [Join the RiiConnect24 Discord server.](https://discord.gg/b4Y7jfD) Then before you get verified (if you want to access the rest of the server), type in `!patch`. The bot will guide you on how to patch your config (in DM). Once your config has been patched, download it and copy it back to your SD card, replacing the already existing `nwc24msg.cfg`.

1. Take your SD card out and insert it back into your Wii.
|
|
1. In the file explorer pane, hover over `nwc24msg.cfg` and press the + button, then select `Copy`.
|
|
1. Select the SD icon (which used to be the NAND icon), then select `NAND`.
|
|
1. Navigate to `shared2` -> `wc24`, press the + button somewhere in the file listing and select `Paste`. Make sure to choose `Yes` when it asks you to overwrite the file.
|
|
|
|
1. Exit to the `Wii Menu`
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
##### Section II - Changing DNS
|
|
|
|
1. Go to `Wii Options`
|
|
|
|
1. Go to `Wii Settings`
|
|
|
|
1. Go to `Page 2`, then click on `Internet`
|
|
|
|
1. Go to `Connection Settings`
|
|
|
|
1. Select your current connection
|
|
|
|
1. Go to`Change Settings`
|
|
|
|
1. Go to `Auto-Obtain DNS`, then select `No`, then `Advanced Settings`
|
|
|
|
1. Type in `164.132.44.106` as the primary DNS
|
|
|
|
1. Type in `8.8.8.8` as the secondary DNS
|
|
|
|
1. Select `Confirm`, then select `Save`
|
|
|
|
1. Select `OK` to perform a connection test
|
|
|
|
1. If the connection test was successful, select `No` to skip the Wii System Update.
