2a9eca696f Fix PHP 8.1 "strlen(null)" exception which blocks rendering a Diffusion repository page
Summary:
`strlen()` was used in Phabricator to check if a generic value is a non-empty string.
This behavior is deprecated since PHP 8.1. Phorge adopts `phutil_nonempty_string()` as a replacement.

Note: this may highlight other absurd input values that might be worth correcting
instead of just ignoring. If phutil_nonempty_string() throws an exception in your
instance, report it to Phorge to evaluate and fix that specific corner case.

Closes T15421

Test Plan:
Applied this change, create a repository, and afterwards the repository page at `/diffusion/9/` is shown with its name and "Empty Repository - This repository does not have any commits yet."

- have a Diffusion repository with Staging Area and Automation already setup
- create a Differential patch from arc
- press the Land button on the UI and write random things inside

6716d4f6ae Separate "shouldPublishRef()" from "isPermanentRef()" and set "IMPORTED_PERMANENT" more narrowly
Summary:
Ref T13591. Currently, the "IMPORTED_PERMANENT" flag (previously "IMPORTED_CLOSEABLE", until D21514) flag is set by using the result of "shouldPublishRef()".

This method returns the wrong value for the flag when there is a repository-level reason not to publish the ref (most commonly, because the repository is currently importing).

Although it's correct that commits should not be published in an importing repository, that's already handled in the "PublishWorker" by testing "shouldPublishCommit()". The "IMPORTED_PERMANENT" flag should only reflect whether a commit is reachable from a permanent ref or not.

  - Move the relevant logic to a new method in Publisher.
  - Fill "IMPORTED_PERMANENT" narrowly from "isPermanentRef()", rather than broadly from "shouldPublishRef()".
  - Deduplicate some logic in "PhabricatorRepositoryRefEngine" which has the same intent as the logic in the Publisher.

Test Plan:
  - Ran discovery on a new repository, saw permanent commits marked as permanent from the beginning.
  - See later changes in this patch series for additional testing.

18da346972 Add additional flags to "bin/repository rebuild-identities" to improve flexibility
Summary:
Ref T13444. Repository identities have, at a minimum, some bugs where they do not update relationships properly after many types of email address changes.

It is currently very difficult to fix this once the damage is done since there's no good way to inspect or rebuild them.

Take some steps toward improving observability and providing repair tools: allow `bin/repository rebuild-identities` to effect more repairs and operate on identities more surgically.

Test Plan: Ran `bin/repository rebuild-identities` with all new flags, saw what looked like reasonable rebuilds occur.

a2b2c391a1 Distinguish between "Assigned" and "Effective" identity PHIDs more clearly and consistently
Summary:
Ref T13444. You can currently explicitly unassign an identity (useful if the matching algorithm is misfiring). However, this populates the "currentEffectiveUserPHID" with the "unassigned()" token, which mostly makes things more difficult.

When an identity is explicitly unassigned, convert that into an explicit `null` in the effective user PHID.

Then, realign "assigned" / "effective" language a bit. Previously, `withAssigneePHIDs(...)` actualy queried effective users, which was misleading. Finally, bulk up the list view a little bit to make testing slightly easier.

Test Plan:
  - Unassigned an identity, ran migration, saw `currentEffectiveUserPHID` become `NULL` for the identity.
  - Unassigned a fresh identity, saw NULL.
  - Queried for various identities under the modified constraints.

df0f5c6cee Make repository identity email address association case-insensitive
Summary:
Ref T13444. Currently, identities for a particular email address are queried with "LIKE" against a binary column, which makes the query case-sensitive.

  - Extract the email address into a separate "sort255" column.
  - Add a key for it.
  - Make the query a standard "IN (%Ls)" query.
  - Deal with weird cases where an email address is 10000 bytes long or full of binary junk.

Test Plan:
  - Ran migration, inspected database for general sanity.
  - Ran query script in T13444, saw it return the same hits for "git@" and "GIT@".

These are pretty one-off for the most part, so I'll annotate them inline.

c116deef63 Remove "Effective User" attachment from Repository Identities
Summary:
See <https://discourse.phabricator-community.org/t/phabricatorrepositoryidentity-attacheffectiveuser-must-be-an-instance-of-phabricatoruser-null-given/1820/3>.

It's possible for an Idenitity to be bound to user X, then for that user to be deleted, e.g. with `bin/remove destroy X`. In this case, we'll fail to load/attach the user to the identity.

Currently, we don't actually use this anywhere, so just stop loading it. Once we start using it (if we ever do), we could figure out what an appropriate policy is in this case.

966db4d38e Add an intracluster synchronization log for cluster repositories
Summary:
Depends on D19778. Ref T13216. See PHI943, PHI889, et al.

We currently have a push log and a pull log, but do not separately log intracluster synchronization events. We've encountered several specific cases where having this kind of log would be helpful:

  - In PHI943, an install was accidentally aborting locks early. Having timing information in the sync log would let us identify this more quickly.
  - In PHI889, an install hit an issue with `MaxStartups` configuration in `sshd`. A log would let us identify when this is an issue.
  - In PHI889, I floated a "push the linux kernel + fetch timeout" theory. A sync log would let us see sync/fetch timeouts to confirm this being a problem in practice.
  - A sync log will help us assess, develop, test, and monitor intracluster routing sync changes (likely those in T13211) in the future.

Some of these events are present in the pull log already, but only if they make it as far as running a `git upload-pack` subprocess (not the case with `MaxStartups` problems) -- and they can't record end-to-end timing.

No UI yet, I'll add that in a future change.

Test Plan:
  - Forced all operations to synchronize by adding `|| true` to the version check.
  - Pulled, got a sync log in the database.

d8834377be When a Herald rule blocks a push, show which rule fired in the push log UI
Summary:
Ref T13164. See PHI765. We currently show "Rejected: Herald" in the push log UI, but don't show which rule rejected a push.

We store this data, and it's potentially useful: either for hunting down a particular issue, or for getting a general sense of how often a reject rule is triggering (maybe because you want to tune how aggressive it is).

Show this data in the web UI, and include it in the data export payload.

  - `writeWait`: Time spent waiting for a write lock.
  - `readWait`: Time spent waiting for a read lock.
  - `hostWait`: Roughly, total time spent on the leaf node.

The primary goal here is to see if `readWait` is meaningful in the wild. If it is, that motivates smarter routing, and the value of smarter routing can be demonstrated by looking for a reduction in read wait times.

I'll hold this whole series until after the release cut so it has some time to bake on `secure` to look for issues. It's also not a huge problem if there are bugs here since these tables are just caches anyway, although they do feed into some other things, and obviously it's never good to have bugs.

Test Plan:
  - This logic can be invoked directly with `bin/repository refs <repository> --trace --verbose`.
  - Ran that on unchanged repositories, new branches, removed branches, and modified branches. Saw appropriate output and cursor positions.
  - Ran on a mercurial repository to test the close/open logic, saw it correct open/closed state of incorrect positions.
  - Browed around Diffusion in various repositories.

e6ddd6d0e9 Cache Almanac URIs for repositories
Summary:
Ref T11954. This is kind of complex and I'm not sure I want to actually land it, but it gives us a fairly good improvement for clustered repositories so I'm leaning toward moving forward.

When we make (or receive) clustered repository requests, we must first load a bunch of stuff out of Almanac to figure out where to send the request (or if we can handle the request ourselves).

This involves several round trip queries into Almanac (service, device, interfaces, bindings, properties) and generally is fairly slow/expensive. The actual data we get out of it is just a list of URIs.

Caching this would be very easy, except that invalidating the cache is difficult, since editing any binding, property, interface, or device may invalidate the cache for indirectly connected services and repositories.

To address this, introduce `PhabricatorCacheEngine`, which is an extensible engine like `PhabricatorDestructionEngine` for propagating cache updates. It has two modes:

  - Discover linked objects (that is: find related objects which may need to have caches invalidated).
  - Invalidate caches (that is: nuke any caches which need to be nuked).

Both modes are extensible, so third-party code can build repository-dependent caches or whatever. This may be overkill but even if Almanac is the only thing we use it for it feels like a fairly clean solution to the problem.

With `CacheEngine`, make any edit to Almanac stuff propagate up to the Service, and then from the Service to any linked Repositories.

Once we hit repositories, invalidate their caches when Almanac changes.

Test Plan:
  - Observed a 20-30ms performance improvement with `ab -n 100`.
  - (The main page making Conduit calls also gets a performance improvement, although that's a little trickier to measure directly.)
  - Added debugging code to the cache engine stuff to observe the linking and invalidation phases.
  - Made invalidation throw; verified that editing properties, bindings, etc, properly invalidates the cache of any indirectly linked repositories.

576b73dc53 Index all repository URIs, not just the "primary" repository URI
Summary:
Ref T10923. When regenerating the URI index for a repository, index every URI.

  - Also, make the index slightly stricter (domain + path instead of just path). Excluding the domain made more sense when we were generating only first-party URIs.
  - Make the index smarter about `/diffusion/123/` URIs.
  - Show normalized URIs in `diffusion.repository.search` results.

Test Plan:
  - Ran migration.
  - Verified sensible-looking results in database.
  - Searched for a repository URI by first-party clone URI.
  - Searched for a repository URI by mirror URI.
  - Used `diffusion.repository.search` to get information about repository URIs.

42eaa88f80 Cut mirroring over to new URIs
Summary:
Ref T10748. This migrates and swaps mirroring to `PhabricatorRepositoryURI`, obsoleting `PhabricatorRepositoryMirror`.

This prevents you from editing, adding or disabling mirrors unless you know a secret URI (until the UI cuts over fully), but existing mirroring is not affected.

Test Plan:
  - Added a mirroring URI to an old repository.
  - Verified it worked with `bin/repository mirror`.
  - Migrated forward.
  - Verified it still worked with `bin/repository mirror`.
