3fd16a9ba5 Transactions - introduce a buildTransactionTimeline function
Summary: ...way way down in PhabricatorController. Use it on ManiphestTaskDetailController to test it. Ref T4712. I think the pager logic to be added as part of T4712 can safely reside entirely within this method. As I said earlier, 5 parameters is a lot, so I don't really want to add more. Next diff would do the pagination logic and the diff after that would deploy it everywhere. If while deploying it everywhere I find something off, that will be a different diff.

Test Plan: viewed maniphest tasks and they looked as spiffy as ever.

9352c76e81 Decouple some aspects of request routing and construction
Summary:
Ref T5702. This is a forward-looking change which provides some very broad API improvements but does not implement them. In particular:

  - Controllers no longer require `$request` to construct. This is mostly for T5702, directly, but simplifies things in general. Instead, we call `setRequest()` before using a controller. Only a small number of sites activate controllers, so this is less code overall, and more consistent with most constructors not having any parameters or effects.
  - `$request` now offers `getURIData($key, ...)`. This is an alternate way of accessing `$data` which is currently only available on `willProcessRequest(array $data)`. Almost all controllers which implement this method do so in order to read one or two things out of the URI data. Instead, let them just read this data directly when processing the request.
  - Introduce `handleRequest(AphrontRequest $request)` and deprecate (very softly) `processRequest()`. The majority of `processRequest()` calls begin `$request = $this->getRequest()`, which is avoided with the more practical signature.
  - Provide `getViewer()` on `$request`, and a convenience `getViewer()` on `$controller`. This fixes `$viewer = $request->getUser();` into `$viewer = $request->getViewer();`, and converts the `$request + $viewer` two-liner into a single `$this->getViewer()`.

Test Plan:
  - Browsed around in general.
  - Hit special controllers (redirect, 404).
  - Hit AuditList controller (uses new style).

a2a0f002f0 Fix security.require-https by marking redirect as external
Summary:
Resolves T5937. HTTPS redirects caused by `security.require-https` use a full scheme, domain and port in the URI. Consequently, this causes invocation of the new external redirect logic and prevents redirection from occurring properly when accessing the HTTP version of Phabricator that has `security.require-https` turned on.

I've also fixed the automatic slash redirection logic to add the external flag where appropriate.

Test Plan: Configured SSL on my local machine and turned on `security.require-https`. Observed the "Refusing to redirect" exception on master, while the redirect completed successfully with this patch.

7176240717 Whitelist controllers which can receive a 'code' parameter
Summary:
Ref T4593. There are a variety of clever attacks against OAuth which involve changing the redirect URI to some other URI on the same domain which exhibits unexpected behavior in response to an OAuth request. The best approach to dealing with this is for providers to lock to a specific path and refuse to redirect elsewhere, but not all providers do this.

We haven't had any specific issues related to this, but the anchor issue in T4593 was only a step away.

To mitigate this in general, we can reject the OAuth2 `'code'` parameter on //every// page by default, and then whitelist it on the tiny number of controllers which should be able to receive it.

This is very coarse, kind of overkill, and has some fallout (we can't use `'code'` as a normal parameter in the application), but I think it's relatively well-contained and seems reasonable. A better approach might be to whitelist parameters on every controller (i.e., have each controller specify the parameters it can receive), but that would be a ton of work and probably cause a lot of false positives for a long time.

Since we don't use `'code'` normally anywhere (as far as I can tell), the coarseness of this approach seems reasonable.

Test Plan:
  - Logged in with OAuth.
  - Hit any other page with `?code=...` in the URL, got an exception.
  - Grepped for `'code'` and `"code"`, and examined each use to see if it was impacted.

5b1d9c935a After writing "next_uri", don't write it again for a while
Summary:
Fixes T3793. There's a lot of history here, see D4012, T2102. Basically, the problem is that things used to work like this:

  - User is logged out and accesses `/xyz/`. After they login, we'd like to send them back to `/xyz/`, so we set a `next_uri` cookie.
  - User's browser has a bunch of extensions and now makes a ton of requests for stuff that doesn't exist, like `humans.txt` and `apple-touch-icon.png`. We can't distinguish between these requests and normal requests in a general way, so we write `next_uri` cookies, overwriting the user's intent (`/xyz/`).

To fix this, we made the 404 page not set `next_uri`, in D4012. So if the browser requests `humans.txt`, we 404 with no cookie, and the `/xyz/` cookie is preserved. However, this is bad because an attacker can determine if objects exist and applications are installed, by visiting, e.g., `/T123` and seeing if they get a 404 page (resource really does not exist) or a login page (resource exists). We'd rather not leak this information.

The comment in the body text describes this in more detail.

This diff sort of tries to do the right thing most of the time: we write the cookie only if we haven't written it in the last 2 minutes. Generally, this should mean that the original request to `/xyz/` writes it, all the `humans.txt` requests don't write it, and things work like users expect. This may occasionally do the wrong thing, but it should be very rare, and we stop leaking information about applications and objects.

Test Plan: Logged out, clicked around / logged in, used Charles to verify that cookies were set in the expected way.

69ddb0ced6 Issue "anonymous" sessions for logged-out users
Summary:
Ref T4339. Ref T4310. Currently, sessions look like `"afad85d675fda87a4fadd54"`, and are only issued for logged-in users. To support logged-out CSRF and (eventually) external user sessions, I made two small changes:

  - First, sessions now have a "kind", which is indicated by a prefix, like `"A/ab987asdcas7dca"`. This mostly allows us to issue session queries more efficiently: we don't have to issue a query at all for anonymous sessions, and can join the correct table for user and external sessions and save a query. Generally, this gives us more debugging information and more opportunity to recover from issues in a user-friendly way, as with the "invalid session" error in this diff.
  - Secondly, if you load a page and don't have a session, we give you an anonymous session. This is just a secret with no special significance.

This does not implement CSRF yet, but gives us a client secret we can use to implement it.

Test Plan:
  - Logged in.

7f11e8d740 Improve handling of email verification and "activated" accounts
Summary:
Small step forward which improves existing stuff or lays groudwork for future stuff:

  - Currently, to check for email verification, we have to single-query the email address on every page. Instead, denoramlize it into the user object.
    - Migrate all the existing users.
    - When the user verifies an email, mark them as `isEmailVerified` if the email is their primary email.
    - Just make the checks look at the `isEmailVerified` field.
  - Add a new check, `isUserActivated()`, to cover email-verified plus disabled. Currently, a non-verified-but-not-disabled user could theoretically use Conduit over SSH, if anyone deployed it. Tighten that up.
  - Add an `isApproved` flag, which is always true for now. In a future diff, I want to add a default-on admin approval queue for new accounts, to prevent configuration mistakes. The way it will work is:
    - When the queue is enabled, registering users are created with `isApproved = false`.
    - Admins are sent an email, "[Phabricator] New User Approval (alincoln)", telling them that a new user is waiting for approval.
    - They go to the web UI and approve the user.
    - Manually-created accounts are auto-approved.
    - The email will have instructions for disabling the queue.

I think this queue will be helpful for new installs and give them peace of mind, and when you go to disable it we have a better opportunity to warn you about exactly what that means.

Generally, I want to improve the default safety of registration, since if you just blindly coast through the path of least resistance right now your install ends up pretty open, and realistically few installs are on VPNs.

Test Plan:
  - Ran migration, verified `isEmailVerified` populated correctly.
  - Created a new user, checked DB for verified (not verified).
  - Verified, checked DB (now verified).
  - Used Conduit, People, Diffusion.

c7f23f522a Accept and route VCS HTTP requests
Summary:
Mostly ripped from D7391, with some changes:

  - Serve repositories at `/diffusion/X/`, with no special `/git/` or `/serve/` URI component.
    - This requires a little bit of magic, but I got the magic working for Git, Mercurial and SVN, and it seems reasonable.
    - I think having one URI for everything will make it easier for users to understand.
    - One downside is that git will clone into `X` by default, but I think that's not a big deal, and we can work around that in the future easily enough.
  - Accept HTTP requests for Git, SVN and Mercurial repositories.
  - Auth logic is a little different in order to be more consistent with how other things work.
  - Instead of AphrontBasicAuthResponse, added "VCSResponse". Mercurial can print strings we send it on the CLI if we're careful, so support that. I did a fair amount of digging and didn't have any luck with git or svn.
  - Commands we don't know about are assumed to require "Push" capability by default.

No actual VCS data going over the wire yet.

Test Plan:
Ran a bunch of stuff like this:

  $ hg clone http://local.aphront.com:8080/diffusion/P/
abort: HTTP Error 403: This repository is not available over HTTP.

...and got pretty reasonable-seeming errors in all cases. All this can do is produce errors for now.

Summary:
Ref T603. Fixes T2823. This updates Paste and Macro.

  - **Paste**
    - Added default view policy.
    - I didn't add a "create" policy, since I can't come up with any realistic scenario where you'd give users access to pastes but not let them create them.
  - **Macro**
    - Added a "manage" policy, which covers creating and editing macros. This lets an install only allow "People With An Approved Sense of Humor" or whatever to create macros.
    - Removed the "edit" policy, since giving individual users access to specific macros doesn't make much sense to me.
    - Changed the view policy to the "most public" policy the install allows.
    - Added view policy information to the header.

Also fix a couple of minor things in Maniphest.

c8127edfe9 Tighten up some policy interactions in Herald
Summary:
Ref T603. Herald is a bit of a policy minefield right now, although I think pretty much everything has straightforward solutions. This change:

  - Introduces "create" and "create global" permisions for Herald.
    - Maybe "create" is sort of redundant since there's no reason to have access to the application if not creating rules, but I think this won't be the case for most applications, so having an explicit "create" permission is more consistent.
  - Add some application policy helper functions.
  - Improve rendering a bit -- I think we probably need to build some `PolicyType` class, similar to `PHIDType`, to really get this right.
  - Don't let users who can't use application X create Herald rules for application X.
  - Remove Maniphest/Pholio rules when those applications are not installed.

0d83e1d66f If a user can't see an application, prevent them from using its controllers
Summary:
Ref T603. Broadly, this allows you to implement a policy like "Only users in Engineering can use Differential."

This isn't complete, and there will be a long tail of special cases to deal with. Some examples:

  - If you can't use Differential, should you still be able to attach/detach revisions from tasks?
    - You currently will be able to.
    - This actually seems pretty reasonable.
    - But in other cases it might not be: the "send user a message" action should probably require access to Conpherence.
  - If you can't use Differential, should you still be able to see feed stories about it?
    - You currently will be able to, if you can see the revisions.
    - This seems not-so-reasonable and we should probably lock it down.
  - If you can't use Differential, can users CC you on revisions?
    - Currently, they can, and you can't do anything about it.
    - Probably they shouldn't be able to? This seems challenging to explain in the UI.
  - If you can't use Differential, can you write a Herald rule against it?
    - You currently will be able to.
    - Seems like you obviously shouldn't be able to.
    - I think this is a general issue right now (you can still write Differential herald rules even if you uninstall the application, I believe).

There are probably a few more things I haven't thought of. However, there are a finite number of these things and I suspect there aren't //too/ many more than this -- I can't come up with like 100 of them, and half of the ones above have easy fixes.

Despite the rough edges, I think this accomplishes 95% of what installs expect from it.

0aa67025f2 In unit test environments, install all applications
Summary:
Normalize the unit test environment by installing all applications.

The immediate issue this fixes is that `testDropUnknownSenderMail` depends on Maniphest being installed. Some possible fixes are:

  # Don't rely on the Maniphest mail receiver for the test (e.g., write a stub/dummy/mock receiver).
  # Explicitly make sure Maniphest is installed before running the test.
  # Normalize the test environment to install all applications.

I don't like (1) much because it turns a pretty good 10 line test into a bunch of stub classes or mock junk. I'll do it if we have more uses after a few more diffs, but so far running these tests against real code hasn't created a dependency mess and we get more coverage.

I don't like (2) much because I think requiring tests to do this will do more harm than good. The number of issues we'll hypothetically uncover by exposing unrealized application interdependencies is probably very small or maybe zero, and they're probably all trivial. But tests with an undeclared but implicit dependency on an application (e.g., Differential tests depend on Differential) are common.

So here's (3), which I think is reasonable.

I also simplified some of this code a little bit, and moved the Application object cache one level down (this was sort of a bug -- installation status is variant across requests).

Test Plan: Added unit test.

341079c3cf Move some received mail responsibility to applications
Summary:
Ref T1205. Continuation of D5915.

Currently, `PhabricatorMetaMTAReceivedMail` has //all// the logic for routing mail. In particular:

  - New mail receivers in applications must edit it.
  - Mail receivers don't drop out when applications are uninstalled.

Applications have some logic in subclasses of `PhabricatorMailReplyHandler`, but this class is a bit of a mess. It is also heavily based on the assumption that mail receivers are objects (like revisions), but this is not true in at least two cases today (creating new tasks with `bugs@`, creating a new Conpherence thread) and likely other cases in the future (e.g., revision-by-mail).

Move this logic into a new `PhabricatorMailReceiver` classtree. This is similar to `PhabricatorMailReplyHandler` but a bit cleaner and more general. I plan to heavily reduce the responsibilities of `PhabricatorMailReplyHandler` or possibly eliminate it entirely.

For now, the new classtree doesn't do much of interest. The only behavioral change this diff causes is that Phabricator will now reject mail to an application when that application is uninstalled.

I also moved all the `ReplyHandler` classes into `mail/` directories in their respective applications.

Test Plan: Unit tests, used receive test to route mail to various objects.

97ff7fe259 Make "isInstalled()" respect beta apps
Summary:
Currently, `isInstalled()` and `getAllInstalledApplications()` are inconsistent:

  - `isInstalled()` returns true for beta apps, even if `phabricator.show-beta-applications` is false.
  - `getAllInstalledApplications()` omits beta apps if `phabricator.show-beta-applications` is false.

Making the beta config control installs (not just homepage visibility) makes far more sense as we roll out more thorough application integrations.

Make `isInstalled()` respect beta, and clean up some callsites.

D5602 builds on this.

f306cab653 Use application icons for "Eye" menu and Crumbs
Summary:
Issues here:

  - Need an application-sized "eye", or a "home" icon for "Phabricator Home".
  - Some of the "apps_lb_2x" sliced images are the "_dark_" versions, not the light versions.
  - If you slice an application-sized "logout" (power off) icon and application-sized "help" (questionmark in circle) icon I can replace the current menu icons and nearly get rid of "autosprite".
  - To replace the icons on /applications/, the non-retina size is "4x", so we'd need "8x" for retina. Alternatively I can reduce the icon sizes by 50%.
  - The "Help", "Settings" and "Logout" items currently have a "glowing" hover state, which needs a variant (or we can drop it).
  - The /applications/ icons have a white hover state (or we can drop it).
  - The 1x application (14x14) icons aren't used anywhere right now, should they be? Maybe in the feed in the future, etc?
  - The "apps-2x" and "apps-large" sheets are the same image, but getting them to actually use the same file is a bit tricky, so I just left them separate for now.

ef85f49adc Delete license headers from files
Summary:
This commit doesn't change license of any file. It just makes the license implicit (inherited from LICENSE file in the root directory).

We are removing the headers for these reasons:

- It wastes space in editors, less code is visible in editor upon opening a file.
- It brings noise to diff of the first change of any file every year.
- It confuses Git file copy detection when creating small files.
- We don't have an explicit license header in other files (JS, CSS, images, documentation).
- Using license header in every file is not obligatory: http://www.apache.org/dev/apply-license.html#new.

This change is approved by Alma Chao (Lead Open Source and IP Counsel at Facebook).

85bf88e400 Allow pastes to be flagged
Summary:
This does a few things:

  - Allows you to flag pastes. This is straightforward.
  - Allows Applications to register event listeners.
  - Makes object action lists emit a 'didrenderactions' event, so other applications can add more actions. The Flags application injects its action in this way. This should generally make it much easier to add actions to objects when we add new applications, with less code duplication and better modularity. We have a really hacky version of this in Differential that I want to get rid of in lieu of this more general approach. I'm going to make object lists do the same thing, so any application can jump in and add stuff.

Test Plan: Flagged and unflagged pastes. Viewed home page, differential, flags list.

Summary:
I just put them in the property table instead of a list at the foot, they looked weird down there and were too bulky relative to their importance.

74b438db13 Move "Mailing Lists" to a separate application
Summary:
There's currently no way to get here from the UI since nav tabs don't exist anymore. It's also always been hard to find this feature even when we had the tabs, since it's surprising that it's inside "MetaMTA".

  - Move mailing lists to a separate application.
  - Add `buildApplicationPage()`, since we don't really need `buildStandardPageResponse()` any more -- we can infer all the information from `PhabricatorApplication`. This will let us get rid of a lot of the `PhabricatorXXXController` classes which just define application information.
  - Add `getApplicationURI()` to reduce code duplication, and in case we want to let you move applications around some day.

d3fd790574 Add basic support for new navigation menu
Summary:
Add a new left-side application menu. This menu shows which application you're in and provides a quick way to get to other applications.

On desktops, menus are always shown but the app menu can be collapsed to be very small.

On tablets, navigation buttons allow you to choose between the menus and the content.

On phones, navigation buttons allow you to choose between the app menu, the local menu, and the content.

This needs some code and UI cleanup, but has no effect yet so I think it's okay to land as-is, I'll clean it up a bit as I start integrating it. I want to play around with it a bit and see if it's good/useful or horrible anyway.

Allow installs to require users to verify email addresses before they can use Phabricator. If a user logs in without a verified email address, they're given instructions to verify their address.

5ab14d0879 Provide isolated, read/write storage fixtures for unit tests
Summary:
  - Unit tests can request storage fixtures.
  - We build one fixture across all tests in the process, which can quickstart (takes roughly 1s to build, 200ms to destroy for me). This is a one-time cost for running an arbitrary number of fixture-based tests.
  - We isolate all the connections inside transactions for each test, so individual tests don't affect one another.

a10b91a6a9 Move connection cache from "AphrontDatabaseConnection"-level to "LiskDAO"-level
Summary:
  - Currently, connections are responsible for connection caching. However, I want unit tests to be able to say "throw away the entire connection cache" with storage fixtures, and this is difficult/impossible when connections are responsible for the cache.
  - The only behavioral change is that previously we would use the same connection for read-mode and write-mode queries. We'll now establish two connections. No installs actually differentiate between the modes so it isn't particularly relevant what we do here. In the long term, we should probably check the "w" cache before building a new "r" connection, so transactional code which involves reads and writes works (we don't have any such code right now).

Test Plan: Loaded pages, verified only one connection was established per database. Ran unit tests.

087cc0808a Make SQL patch management DAG-based and provide namespace support
Summary:
This addresses three issues with the current patch management system:

  # Two people developing at the same time often pick the same SQL patch number, and then have to go rename it. The system catches this, but it's silly.
  # Second/third-party developers can't use the same system to manage auxiliary storage they may want to add.
  # There's no way to build mock databases for unit tests that need to do reads.

To resolve these things, you can now name your patches whatever you want and conflicts are just merge conflicts, which are less of a pain to fix than filename conflicts.

Dependencies are now a DAG, with implicit dependencies created on the prior patch if no dependencies are specified. Developers can add new concrete subclasses of `PhabricatorSQLPatchList` to add storage management, and define the dependency branchpoint of their patches so they apply in the correct order (although, generally, they should not depend on the mainline patches, presumably).

The commands `storage upgrade --namespace test1234` and `storage destroy --namespace test1234` will allow unit tests to build and destroy MySQL storage.

A "quickstart" mode allows an upgrade from scratch in ~1200ms. Destruction takes about 200ms. These seem like fairily reasonable costs to actually use in tests. Building from scratch patch-by-patch takes about 6000ms.

Test Plan:
  - Created new databases from scratch with and without quickstart in a separate test namespace. Pointed the webapp at the test namespaces, browsed around, everything looked good.
  - Compared quickstart and no-quickstart dump states, they're identical except for mysqldump timestamps and a few similar things.
  - Upgraded a legacy database to the new storage format.
  - Destroyed / dumped storage.

877cb136e8 Add an assocations-like "Edges" framework
Summary:
We have a lot of cases where we store object relationships, but it's all kind of messy and custom. Some particular problems:

  - We go to great lengths to enforce order stability in Differential revisions, but the implementation is complex and inelegant.
  - Some relationships are stored on-object, so we can't pull the inverses easily. For example, Maniphest shows child tasks but not parent tasks.
  - I want to add more of these and don't want to continue building custom stuff.
  - UIs like the "attach stuff to other stuff" UI need custom branches for each object type.
  - Stuff like "allow commits to close tasks" is notrivial because of nonstandard metadata storage.

Provide an association-like "edge" framework to fix these problems. This is nearly identical to associations, with a few differences:

  - I put edge metadata in a separate table and don't load it by default, to keep edge rows small and allow large metadata if necessary. The on-edge metadata seemed to get abused a lot at Facebook.
  - I put a 'seq' column on the edges to ensure they have an explicit, stable ordering within a source and type.

This isn't actually used anywhere yet, but my first target is attaching commits to tasks for T904.

Test Plan: Made a mock page that used Editor and Query. Verified adding and removing edges, overwriting edges, writing and loading edge data, sequence number generation.
