2e41c85cc9 Clean up recurring event information on Calendar events
Summary: Ref T11326. This adds prev/next links for recurring events (ala D16179) and moves the "accept/decline" buttons closer to the invite list. This might need some fiddling, but should be a little more human-friendly.

eab74a9d7c Provide better headers and crumbs for Calendar result views
Summary:
Ref T11326. This isn't perfect, but should be a little easier to use and less weird/confusing.

aee9d88c17 Give the Calendar month view a nice hover effect
Summary:
Ref T11326. Currently, we link Calendar days using hidden DOM nodes.

This is nice because it's simple, and right-clicking a day works properly. However, it's a bit ugly/unintuitive, messy, and unclear. It's especially messy because days are really two different rows, one for events and one for day/week numbers.

Instead, use JS to highlight day cells. You can still right-click by clicking the actual day number, which seems like a reasonable compromise.

020df6f5cb Add a numeric input control for TOTP codes
Summary:
Fixes T11365. I tested these variants:

  - `<input type="number" />`
  - `<input type="text" pattern="\d*" />`

Of these, this one (using `pattern`) appears to have the best behavior: it shows the correct keyboard on iOS mobile and does nothing on desktops.

Using `type="number"` causes unwanted sub-controls to appear in desktop Safari, and a numbers + symbols keyboard to appear on iOS (presumably so users can type "." and "-" and maybe ",").

Test Plan: Tested variants in desktop browsers and iOS simulator, see here and T11365 for discussion.

189910d615 Make TabGroups a standalone UI element
Summary:
Ref T10628. Currently, tabs are part of ObjectBoxes. However, the code is a bit of a mess and I want to use them in some other contexts, notably the "prose diff" dialog to show "old raw, new raw, diff".

Pull them out, and update Files to use the new stuff. My plan is:

  - Update all callsites to this stuff.
  - Remove the builtin-in ObjectBox integration to simplify ObjectBox a bit.
  - Move forward with T10628.

This is pretty straightforward. A couple of the sigils are a little weird, but I'll update the JS later. For now, the same JS can drive both old and new tabs.

851aba80ce Render dropdown metadata earlier
Summary:
Ref T11179. One issue I'm getting with trying to turn actions into dropdowns is that we currently render this menu very late, which can cause us to try to add more metadata after we start resolving metadata. This won't work right now (and making it work seems unreasonably complicated), so stop doing it and fatal if something tries.

(This might make some things fatal but //should// be safe -- anything that fatals should have been broken already.)

67482fd19d Continue modernizing application access to user preferences
Summary:
Ref T4103. This is just incremental cleanup:

  - Add "internal" settings, which aren't editable via the UI. They can still do validation and run through the normal pathway. Move a couple settings to use this.
  - Remove `getPreference()` on `PhabricatorUser`, which was a sort of prototype version of `getUserSetting()`.
  - Make `getUserSetting()` validate setting values before returning them, to improve robustness if we change allowable values later.
  - Add a user setting cache, since reading user settings was getting fairly expensive on Calendar.
  - Improve performance of setting validation for timezone setting (don't require building/computing all timezone offsets).
  - Since we have the cache anyway, make the timezone override a little more general in its approach.
  - Move editor stuff to use `getUserSetting()`.

Test Plan:
  - Changed search scopes.
  - Reconciled local and server timezone settings by ignoring and changing timezones.
  - Changed date/time settings, browsed Calendar, queried date ranges.
  - Verified editor links generate properly in Diffusion.
  - Browsed around with time/date settings looking at timestamps.
  - Grepped for `getPreference()`, nuked all the ones coming off `$user` or `$viewer` that I could find.

a4e5780043 Remove "Search Preferences"
Summary:
Ref T4103. This removes these options:

{F1660585}

The jump nav option came from T916, when we had a separate jump nav on the home page. Essentially no one has ever been confused by the behavior of search or disabled this feature. Here are the stats for this install:

| Total Users | 36656 |
| Have Set Any Preference | 3084 |
| Have Disabled Jump | 6
| Are Not "Security Researchers" | 2
| Any Account Activity | 0

The "/" option came in the same change, but the preference came from T989. This keystroke conflicts with a default Firefox keystroke. Almost no one cares about this either, but I count 6 real users who have disabled the behavior. I suspect the number of real users who //use// it may be smaller.

In Safari and Firefox, the "tab" key does the same thing.

In Chrome, the "tab" key does the same thing if {nav Preferences > Web Content > "Pressing Tab highlights..."} is disabled.

Upshot: jump nav is great, bulk of the change in T989 was clearly great, specific preferences that came out of it seem not-so-great and now is a good time to kill them as we head into T4103.

Test Plan:
  - Grepped for removed constants.

3d3fff4991 Fix weird remarkup linewrapping on a few instructions forms, plus move toward fixing Phame/CORGI remarkup issues
Summary:
Fixes T10381. When we converted to `PHUIRemarkupView`, some instructional text got linebreaks added when it shouldn't have them (the source is written in PHP and wrapped at 80 characters, but the output should flow naturally).

Fix this so we don't preserve linebreaks.

This also makes `PHUIRemarkupView` a little more powerful and inches us toward fixing Phame/CORGI remarkup issues, getting rid of `PhabricatorMarkupInterface` / `PhabricatorMarkupOneOff`, and dropping all the application hard-coding in `PhabricatorMarkupEngine`.

Test Plan:
  - Fiddled with timezone in Settings and System Preferences.
  - Got appropriate prompts and behavior after simulating various trips to and from exotic locales.

In particular, this slightly tricky case seems to work correctly:

  - Travel to NY.
  - Ignore discrepancy (you're only there for a couple hours for an important meeting, and returning to SF on a later flight).
  - Return to SF for a few days.
  - Travel back to NY.
  - You should be prompted again, since you left the timezone after you ignored the discrepancy.

f2c36a934e Provide an <input type="file"> control in Remarkup for mobile and users with esoteric windowing systems
Summary:
Ref T5187. This definitely feels a bit flimsy and I'm going to hold it until I cut the release since it changes a couple of things about Workflow in general, but it seems to work OK and most of it is fine.

The intent is described in T5187#176236.

In practice, most of that works like I describe, then the `phui-file-upload` behavior gets some weird glue to figure out if the input is part of the form. Not the most elegant system, but I think it'll hold until we come up with many reasons to write a lot more Javascript.

bbb321395a Support Aphlict clustering
Summary:
Ref T6915. This allows multiple notification servers to talk to each other:

  - Every server has a list of every other server, including itself.
  - Every server generates a unique fingerprint at startup, like "XjeHuPKPBKHUmXkB".
  - Every time a server gets a message, it marks it with its personal fingerprint, then sends it to every other server.
  - Servers do not retransmit messages that they've already seen (already marked with their fingerprint).
  - Servers learn other servers' fingerprints after they send them a message, and stop sending them messages they've already seen.

This is pretty crude, and the first message to a cluster will transmit N^2 times, but N is going to be like 3 or 4 in even the most extreme cases for a very long time.

The fingerprinting stops cycles, and stops servers from sending themselves copies of messages.

We don't need to do anything more sophisticated than this because it's fine if some notifications get lost when a server dies. Clients will reconnect after a short period of time and life will continue.

Test Plan:
  - Wrote two server configs.
  - Started two servers.
  - Told Phabricator about all four services.
  - Loaded Chrome and Safari.
  - Saw them connect to different servers.
  - Sent messages in one, got notifications in the other (magic!).
  - Saw the fingerprinting stuff work on the console, no infinite retransmission of messages, etc.

(This pretty much just worked when I ran it the first time so I probably missed something?)

Test Plan:

Most stuff is 80-90% broken right now. For example:

  - Stuff like submitting comments doesn't work, and gives you a confusing, unhelpful error.
  - None of the UI really knows that it's read-only. EditEngine stuff should all hide itself and say "you can't add new comments while an install is in read-only mode", for example, but currently does not.

68d05934a7 Don't show un-completeable results in people/project autocomplete
Summary:
Fixes T10285.

  - If a result (like a milestone) has no primary hashtag, try to fill in a secondary hashtag.
  - If we can't find any hashtag, don't return the result.

This produces these behaviors:

  - By default, you can't autocomplete milestones.
  - If you give one a hashtag, you can.

We might want to give milestones "special" hashtags eventually (like `#xyz/33`) but this fixes the confusing/broken behavior in the UI and we can wait for a better use case for letting you autocomplete milestones, I think.

Also, don't try to cycle hashtags when renaming milestones. This was a little inconsistent before.

Test Plan:
  - Autocompleted normal projects.
  - Autocompleted milestones with explicit hashtags.
  - No autocomplete entry for milestones with no special hashtags.
  - Used normal typeahead to get tag-less milestones to make sure I didn't break anything.

fce0109822 When dragging nodes, clone them
Summary:
Ref T5240. Currently, when dragging nodes, we leave them where they are in the document and apply "position: relative;" so we can move them around on screen.

  - Pros: All the CSS still works.
  - Cons: Can't drag them outside the nearest containing element with "overflow: hidden;", many subtle positioning bugs with scrollable containers.

Instead, this diff leaves the thing we're dragging exactly where it is, clones it, and drags the clone instead.

  - Pros: You can drag it anywhere. Seems to fix all the scrolling container problems.
  - Cons: CSS which depends on a container class no longer works.

The CSS thing is bad, but doesn't seem too unreasonable to fix. Basically, we just need to put some `phui-this-is-a-workboard-card` class on the cards, and use that to style them instead of `phui-workboard-view`, and then do something similar for draggable lists.

Although we no longer need to drag cards to tabs with the current design, I think there's a reasonable chance we'll revisit that later. The current design also calls for scrollable columns, but there would be no way to drag cards outside of their current column with the current approach.

NOTE: This does not attempt to fix the CSS, so dragging is pretty rough, since the "clone" loses a number of container classes and thus a number of rules. I'll clean up the CSS in the next change.

Test Plan:
  - Dragged stuff around on task lists, workboards, and sort lists (e.g., pinned applications) in Safari, Firefox and Chrome.
  - Scrolled window and containers (workboards) during drag.
  - Dragged stuff out of the workboard.
  - Dragged stuff offscreen.
  - CSS is funky, but I can no longer find any positioning or layout issues in any browser.

08de131da5 Begin modularizing main menu items
Summary:
Ref T10077. Ref T8918. The way the main menu is built is not very modular and fairly hacky.

It assumes menus are provided by applications, but this isn't exactly true. Notably, the "Quick Create" menu is not per-application.

The current method of building this menu is very inefficient (see T10077). Particularly, we have to build it //twice// because we need to build it once to render the item and then again to render the dropdown options.

Start cleaning this up. This diff doesn't actually have any behavioral changes, since I can't swap the menu over until we get rid of all the other items and I haven't extended this to Notifications/Conpherence yet so it doesn't actually fix T8918.

e869e7df0b When logged-out users hit a "Login Required" dialog, try to choose a better "next" URI
Summary:
Ref T10004. After a user logs in, we send them to the "next" URI cookie if there is one, but currently don't always do a very good job of selecting a "next" URI, especially if they tried to do something with a dialog before being asked to log in.

In particular, if a logged-out user clicks an action like "Edit Blocking Tasks" on a Maniphest task, the default behavior is to send them to the standalone page for that dialog after they log in. This can be pretty confusing.

See T2691 and D6416 for earlier efforts here. At that time, we added a mechanism to //manually// override the default behavior, and fixed the most common links. This worked, but I'd like to fix the //default// beahvior so we don't need to remember to `setObjectURI()` correctly all over the place.

ApplicationEditor has also introduced new cases which are more difficult to get right. While we could get them right by using the override and being careful about things, this also motivates fixing the default behavior.

Finally, we have better tools for fixing the default behavior now than we did in 2013.

Instead of using manual overrides, have JS include an "X-Phabricator-Via" header in Ajax requests. This is basically like a referrer header, and will contain the page the user's browser is on.

In essentially every case, this should be a very good place (and often the best place) to send them after login. For all pages currently using `setObjectURI()`, it should produce the same behavior by default.

I'll remove the `setObjectURI()` mechanism in the next diff.

Test Plan: Clicked various workflow actions while logged out, saw "next" get set to a reasonable value, was redirected to a sensible, non-confusing page after login (the page with whatever button I clicked on it).

52f7446eea Remove "Create Empty Task" workflow callouts and some other clutter
Summary:
Ref T9908. This removes the "Create Another Empty Task", "Create A Similar Task" and "Create Another Subtask of Same Parent Task" workflow callouts on the task detail page, which are actions that show up after creating a task or creating a subtask.

  - I think "Create Empty" isn't relevant now that we have "Create Task" nearby and the quick create menu?
  - I'm not sure if "Create Similar" is worth keeping. If we do want to retain it, I'd maybe like to find a way to do it generically.
  - I'm likewise not sure if "Create another subtask" is worth keeping.

Overall, these actions are weird/unusual and I'm not sure how valuable they are. I'm open to keeping "Similar" and/or "Subtask" but I'd like to verify that they're still valuable and make sure we have a reasonable design for them if we retain them.

For example, if we want to retain "Similar", maybe a better approach is just to add "Create Similar Object" to every action menu (which is now possible for EditEngine applications)? There's at least some interest in "Create Similar Repository" in Diffusion.

Also removes a very very old piece of "attached files" code.

105cbaaee1 Implement a basic version of ApplicationEditor in Paste
Summary:
Ref T9132. Ref T4768. This is a rough v0 of ApplicationEditor, which replaces the edit workflow in Paste.

This mostly looks and works like ApplicationSearch, and is heavily modeled on it.

Roughly, we define a set of editable fields and the ApplicationEditor stuff builds everything else.

This has no functional changes, except:

  - I removed "Fork Paste" since I don't think it's particularly useful now that pastes are editable. We could restore it if users miss it.
  - Subscribers are now editable.
  - Form field order is a little goofy (this will be fixed in a future diff).
  - Subscribers and projects are now race-resistant.

The race-resistance works like this: instead of submitting just the new value ("subscribers=apple, dog") and doing a set operation ("set subscribers = apple, dog"), we submit the old and new values ("original=apple" + "new=apple, dog") then apply the user's changes as an add + remove ("add=dog", "remove=<none>"). This means that two users who do "Edit Paste" at around the same time and each add or remove a couple of subscribers won't overwrite each other, unless they actually add or remove the exact same subscribers (in which case their edits legitimately conflict). Previously, the last user to save would win, and whatever was in their field would overwrite the prior state, potentially losing the first user's edits.

Test Plan:
  - Created pastes.
  - Created pastes via API.
  - Edited pastes.
  - Edited every field.
  - Opened a paste in two windows and did project/subscriber edits in each, saved in arbitrary order, had edits respected.

300c74c49d Make mobile navigation work properly by default in more cases
Summary:
Fixes T5752. This obsoletes a bunch of old patterns and I'll follow up on those with a big "go do a bunch of mechanical code changes" task. Major goals are:

  - Don't load named queries multiple times on search pages.
  - Don't require extra code to get standard navigation right on mobile.
  - Reduce the amount of boilerplate in ListControllers.
  - Reduce the amount of boilerplate around navigation/menus in all controllers.

Specifically, here's what this does:

  - The StandardPage is now a smarter/more structured object with `setNavigation()` and `setCrumbs()` methods. More rendering decisions are delayed until the last possible moment.
    - It uses this to automatically add crumb actions to the application menu.
    - It uses this to automatically reuse one SearchEngine instead of running queries multiple times.
  - The new preferred way to build responses is `$this->newPage()` (like `$this->newDialog()`), which has structured methods for adding stuff (`setTitle()`, etc).
  - SearchEngine exposes a new convenience method so you don't have to do all the controller delegation stuff.
  - Building menus is generally simpler.

Test Plan:
  - Tested paste list, view, edit, comment, raw controllers for functionality, mobile menu, crumbs, navigation menu.
  - Edited saved queries.
  - Tested Differential, Maniphest (no changes).
  - Verified the paste pages don't run any duplicate NamedQuery queries.

2ca269cb31 Replace Roboto Slab with Aleo for PHUIDocumentView
Summary: These fonts are functionally very similar, but in diagnosing a problem with mobile Safari/Chrome, it turned out that our use of "bold" with the "normal" font build created a "semibold" look when on desktop and a "normal" look on mobile. The "semibold" feel is more important, so finding a lighter "bold" font was the impetus for this font switch. As it turns out **Aleo** is built by the same author as **Lato** (our other font) and is intended as it's companion. So stylistically, this is the more correct font.

c45ba30416 Redesign Diviner
Summary:
This implements `PHUIDocumentViewPro` which should move to be the base for all documents (Phame, Phriction, Legalpad, Diviner). Overall this feels really good to me, but I'd like to roll it out into Diviner specifically first to work through the issues and then move into other apps and drop `PHUIDocumentView` once everything is converted. Some features are:

 - White Background, no border on page
 - Table of Contents is move to hidden menu (more space for documentation)
 - Property List sits under the document

Some design decisions above are in anticipation of Phriction v3 and Unbeta Phame, specifically commenting and maybe some cool new Remarkup text layout options for Phame.

Test Plan:
Went through tons of pages on Diviner on Desktop, Tablet, Mobile. Bounce back to Phriction to make sure DocumentView CSS changes actually look better there.

a13db0a3ec Allow Controllers to return a wider range of "response-like" objects
Summary:
Ref T1806. Ref T5752. Currently, `handleRequest()` needs to return an `AphrontResponse`, but sometimes it's really convenient to return some other object, like a Dialog, and let that convert into a response elsewhere.

Formalize this and clean up some of the existing hacks for it so there's less custom/magical code in Phabricator-specific classes and more general code in Aphront classes.

More broadly, I want to clean up T5752 before pursuing T9132, since I'm generally happy with how `SearchEngine` works except for how it interacts with side navs / application menus. I want to fix that first so a new Editor (which will have a lot in common with SearchEngine in terms of how controllers interact with it) doesn't make the problem twice as bad.

Fixes T4139. Adds a "Desktop Notifications" panel to settings. For now, we start with "Send Desktop Notifications Too" functionality. We can try to be fancy later and only send desktop notifications if the web app doesn't have focus, etc.

Test Plan:
Made some comments as a test user on a task and got purdy desktop notifications using Chrome. Then did it again with Firefox.

Played around with permissions form with Chrome and got helpful information about what was up. Played around with Firefox and got similar results, except canceling the dialogue didn't invoke my handler code somehow. Oh Firefox!

d1983560a6 Show when objects have a non-default policy
Summary:
Fixes T6787. I'm kind of cheating a little bit here by not unifying default selection with `initializeNew(...)` methods, but I figure we can let this settle for a bit and then go do that later. It's pretty minor.

Since we're not doing templates I kind of want to swap the `'template'` key to `'type'` so maybe I'll do that too at some point.

@chad, freel free to change these, I was just trying to make them pretty obvious. I //do// think it's good for them to stand out, but my approach is probably a bit inconsistent/heavy-handed in the new design.

b12f13efd8 Force date/time preferences to valid values
Summary:
Fixes T8601. To reproduce the problem:

  - Set your time preference to `""` (the empty string). This isn't possible from the modern UI, but can be done with "Right Click > Inspect Element", or users may have carried it forward from an older setting (this is the case with me and @hach-que on this install).
  - Load Calendar with some events.
  - This parses an epoch, which sets `valueTime` to `""` (since there are no format characters in the preference) and then `getEpoch()` fails because `strlen($time)` is 0.
  - Since `getEpoch()` failed, `getDateTime()` also fails.

To fix this:

  - Only permit the date and time preferences to have valid values.

Test Plan:
  - Loaded page before patch, saw fatal.
  - Applied patch.
  - No more fatal.
  - Viewed tooltips, dates/times, dates/times in other apps.
  - Changed my preferences, saw them respected.

466755476a Allow PolicyRules to serve as "Object Policies"
Summary:
Ref T5681. Ref T8488. This allows policy rules to provide "Object Policies", which are similar to the global/basic policies:

  - They show up directly in the dropdown (you don't have to create a custom rule).
  - They don't need to create or load anything in the database.

To implement one, you just add a couple methods on an existing PolicyRule that let Phabricator know it can work as an object policy rule.

{F494764}

These rules only show up where they make sense. For example, the "Task Author" rule is only available in Maniphest, and in "Default View Policy" / "Default Edit Policy" of the Application config.

This should make T8488 easier by letting us set the default policies to "Members of Thread", without having to create a dedicated custom policy for every thread.

Test Plan:
  - Set tasks to "Task Author" policy.
  - Tried to view them as other users.
  - Viewed transaction change strings.
  - Viewed policy errors.
  - Set them as default policies.
  - Verified they don't leak into other policy controls.

7f98a8575d Allow different policy rules for different types of objects
Summary:
Ref T5681. Policy rules can now select objects they can apply to, so a rule like "task author" only shows up where it makes sense (when defining task policies).

This will let us define rules like "members of thread" in Conpherence, "subscribers", etc., to make custom policies more flexible.

Notes:

  - Per D13251, we need to do a little work to get the right options for policies like "Maniphest > Default View Policy". This should allow "task" policies.
  - This implements a "task author" policy as a simple example.
  - The `willApplyRule()` signature now accepts `$objects` to support bulk-loading things like subscribers.

Test Plan:
  - Defined a task to be "visible to: task author", verified author could see it and other users could not.
  - `var_dump()`'d willApplyRule() inputs, verified they were correct (exactly the objects which use the rule).
  - Set `default view policy` to a task-specific policy.
  - Verified that other policies like "Can Use Bulk Editor" don't have these options.

9170e90112 [Redesign] Move basefont to Lato, remove Source Sans Pro
Summary: Working towards a more unified look and feel. This brings in Lato as a complete base font over Helvetica Neue, as well as removing Source Sans Pro from DocumentView and Conpherence. Design-wise Lato provides the nice readability at larger font sizes that Source Sans Pro did, with the ability to scale down to tables and UI widgets with ease. This gives us one font instead of two, and now Object descriptions and Timeline posts all can benefit from a consistent, readable font.

88e7cd158f Allow Spaces to be archived
Summary:
Ref T8377. This adds a standard disable/enable feature to Spaces, with a couple of twists:

  - You can't create new stuff in an archived space, and you can't move stuff into an archived space.
  - We don't show results from an archived space by default in ApplicationSearch queries. You can still find these objects if you explicitly search for "Spaces: <the archived space>".

So this is a "put it in a box in the attic" sort of operation, but that seems fairly nice/reasonable.

Test Plan:
  - Archived and activated spaces.
  - Used ApplicationSearch, which omitted archived objects by default but allowed searches for them, specifically, to succeed.

739bdeccab Improve some Spaces behaviors
Summary:
Ref T8449. Try out some more subtle behaviors:

  - Make the "Space" control part of the policy control, so the UI shows "Visible To: [Space][Policy]". I think this helps make the role of spaces more clear. It also makes them easier to implement.
  - Don't show the default space in headers: instead, show nothing.
  - If the user has access to only one space, pretend spaces don't exist (no edit controls, no header stuff).

This might be confusing, but I think most of the time it will all align fairly well with user expectation.

Test Plan:
  - Viewed a list of pastes (saw Space with non-default space, no space with default space, no space with user in only one space).
  - Viewed a paste (saw Space with non-default space, saw no space with default space, saw no space with user in only one space).
  - Edited spaces on objects (control as privileged user, no control as locked user).
  - Created a new paste in a space (got space select as privileged user, no select as locked user).
